I wanted to let people know about a very special project linked to Beckingham Marshes which is in preparation at the moment and which will come to fruition in September this year. I am a member of Kismet Theatre Company based in Gainsborough and we've been commissioned to create a theatrical performance about Beckingham Marshes, to raise the profile of the site and let even more people know about what a great place they have on their doorstep. The piece is called MarshSongs and is being written by local playwright Michael Hatfield. The core is a journey through the history of the marshes, based on extensive research, but it will also include scenes created by local community groups, inspired by their own visits to the site, as well as specially created visual arts, music, poetry and song. If you want to get involved prior to the event, we've also set up the "500 Frogs" community making project, which you can find more information about via the "500 Frogs" Facebook Page, and we are also looking for craftspeople, charities, community groups and entertainers to be part of the FREE Marsh Fayre which will take place the first weekend of the project; register your interest via Kismet Theatre Company's Facebook Page. Lots more information to come!
