Hello - This is a rather rushed first post but after a long time with nothing happening on the kestrel nest we came in this morning to find our surprise that the first egg has been layed! Very exciting! So I have switched the web cam over for the time being!
We are still keeping an eye on the buzzard nest so if they do decide to use it we will switch over to them!
But for the time being happy viewing of the kestrels
Michael
Ps - As this has happened quickly the web cam caption will still be for the feeder for a few days until I get the web team to change it over!
Adult just made a drop off though missed what it was, such a shame about the smear, can only make out 3.

Exciting news the 4 remaining chicks have all successfully fledged and have all been sitting on top of the farm barns!!
I've posted a few distant pictures from this evening in the new "Files" area also.
Excellent news!
What was this year's sand lizard count? :-)
Lovely photos Mark, lovely to see them outside :-)
Have only just worked out I wasn't signed in which is why I haven't been able to comment on anything!
Well the kestrel chicks are still flying about the farm area and are all looking well. So now there isn't anything happening in their box I have switched over to the barn owls that are roosting in a box inside one of the barns. They have layed any eggs yet but barn owls seem to have been very late this year so fingers crossed. I have heard reports of barn owls laying right in to late summer!
Thanks for that info Michael - will be interesting as I have been quietly following Cornish Barn Owls. So glad to see four healthy fledglings at Arne - still waiting for mine here in the quarry - judging by the age of the dead chick under the nest (just like yours) estimated at 7/8 days on 8th July am looking towards end of this month - will post pic asap!
Thanks again to RSPB for the live webcam - just can't get my head round the new look website yet!
Look forward to your own Kestrels Wendy :-)
Thanks for switching the cam to the Barn Owls :-) - Just looked in but nobody home, very bright and sunny outside - that's not very crepuscular is it?!
