Do you fancy finding a gold or silver nut? Have a look at this site http://www.ptes.org/moremammals/gnh/
It will be something fun to do while you’re out and about, if you’re not out and about, it might get you out. I’ve been out for a few hours this morning and feel so much better for it.
Build it and they will come.
I signed up for this a couple of months ago, and was a bit disappointed at what was expected by them. They sent me the info pack and the location of 3 woodlands they wanted me to visit and survey on their behalf.
None of the 3 where in my County and the nearest was 40 min drive away on private land, they wanted me to seek out the landowner and ask permission to survey the wood.
Needless to say I have not gone nut hunting, but the other info on Wood-mice in the pack was interesting. :-/
That's a shame. I didn't send away for the pack I just went nut hunting. I did find some this morning but I need to look at them more closely when they are dry.
I typed in my post code and found a park very near to me where doremice were found in an earlier survey. We went there this afternoon but the heavens opened so we didn't manage a good look. We didn't find a flag either.
I am also looking out for nibbled nuts whenever I am out walking the dog.
I've been told by a Mammal Expert where I am in Leicestershire there are 'offically' no Woodmice.
Boo. :-(
Apparently Leicestershire has the least amount of woods. Another Boo.
