There's something about my Fennel plant .................

................. that warblers seem to like.

I've allowed a self set Fennel plant to grow up through the flags near my kitchen door. Last month it attracted a Whitethroat (pictures posted) and then a Willow Warbler (pictures too fuzzy to post). Now this morning a couple of Chiffchaffs have been feeding in it. I'd assumed that they were attracted by small insects or aphids but today it seemed to me that the Chiffs were eating the unripened Fennel seeds.

Photos not brilliant because they were taken through glass at an awkward angle.

This first one shows nicely the short primary projection of Chiffchaff

Does anyone know whether they would eat Fennel seeds? Maybe there are tiny insects on the plant which I couldn't see.
