Hi there
We are having trouble with house mice at the moment - cute and cuddly as they are.
Mr Mouse is on the move again from a month ago. OH and I have seem Mr Mouse appearing all over our house in the last 2 days. You can see him moving at the corner of your eye - little devil. He is getting everywhere at the moment! I was sitting at the PC tonight, and I could hear some rustling going on in my cupboards in the kitchen. We do not have biscuits or anything like crisps around, but the rustling sounded like a crisp bag. I called OH through and the little monkey disappeared all together. So I went back and sat at the PC once more and there is more of the same rustling. So I stayed at the PC, and called OH through and he looked in the cupboard, and caught the mouse eating a bag of pasta in the cupboard - brazen little grrrr ! There is fresh mouse poo in our cupboard, and I will not tolerate that at all. So now it is a war of mice and men. Mr mouse will have to go now.
Should I do it the humane way, or another way?
Thoughts please {hmmm ..}
Regards Kathy

Hi Kezmo,
A rugby tackle! Well, sort of - I cornered it and dropped a towel over it. They are handsome birds so it was good to see one up close though I would rather have seen it outside! I am very fond of the cat but when his time is up he is not going to be replaced as I value the wildlife too much. (Sorry Figaro!)
There is something new to learn everyday...

Hi Kezmo, MarJus and everyone here!
Hello and welcome here Sarum Bat.
Back here once more and here to stay !!!! {missed everyone a whole lot}
Kezmo: Yes it took about 30 mins to catch Mr Mouse, so he likes his food for definate {smile}
We have not seen him since we took him outside, so that is a good thing now. Hopefully the cold weather does not bring him back in again. We had to throw out a lot of food that is not safe, and clean out the cupboard top to bottom.
We still have our humane traps open but no takers at the moment
Love the story about Mr Jingles - Mr Jingles the mouse - maybe it should be Mr Scratches LOL - Yes the Green Mile - Is that a Stephen King novel from what I remember
Great stories once more here, and I hope that there are many more to come yet.

Especially your cat & the shredder!! Brenda - so true! My friends caught a mouse that had been driving them mad scratching and making noises at night, so caught it using a humane trap. They took one look at it and decided it was cruel to release it (it was a particularly cold spell) so let it go again in the house and called it Mr Jingles (if you've seen 'The green mile', you'll understand!)

Lovely to see this thread alive and well again.
Sarum Bat, love your story of the partridge on the landing. We have had birds fly through an open window but never a partridge. Can anyone beat that ?
Marjus, Loved the Green Mile but sorry, I have never named visiting mice. I have only one thought - Get it out of the house !
I thought I would give this thread some more life agian now we have new members
Cute stories so far not to ignore the Green Mile one
I thought I would give a little giggle and show the aftermath of my Mouse tenant.
This is a picture of Ermitrude my 'plastic bag' cow. We fill her up with all the reuseable plastic bags we end up with from the supermarket or other shops
Yesterday, I pulled out some plastic bags to reuse them. It looks although our former mouse tenant has chewed lots of holes in all of the bags. So I have had to empty out Ermitrude for a wash, and a clean up. Her head can come off (velcro) as she has felt eyes and I do not want to ruin her.
So our mouse had been using our bags for nest material! {eek}
We still have the humane traps on the floor and they are not shut at all and we are sure our friends has gone.
Little monkey
I know they live in the garage, though I don't see them only the evidence of chewed up paper, but live and let live I say, as long as they don't interefere with the electrics etc!
Last year I was shovelling compost out of a bag and sadly found a dead mouse in there, which I found quite sad. Had it suffocated? Another day during the summer I had exposed a compost heap when a little mouse came out, but didn't run away, which seemed strange. It was only looking closer that I saw two babies in among the heap! So I shaded it from the sun and went away, returning a lot later and they were gone. I hope she managed to remove them to a safer place, but I left it alone after that.
