There were still baby sparrows in our garden on the South coast in the middle of August. No danger of them dying out here:)
Mum
I'm thrilled with the high number of baby sparrows flocking around our garden this year. When the seed feeders are full (they take 8 at a time) there are usually 2-3 sitting on top waiting their turn and most of the shrubs around have sparrows coming and going and both fences have around half a dozen on each side waiting for their chance to eat. They're difficult to count but my estimate is 40 -50 fluttering backwards and forwards from bush to feeder and back again. It's great to hear them chattering constantly.
I wish I could say I'd seen something of the supposed swarms of ladybirds and butterflies. For several days we had quite a lot of cabbage whites and the occasional peacock but not many.

Seen a few baby sparrows this year. Nice to see a fairly healthy local sparrow population in good numbers. I always enjoy watching the antics of sparrows.

We live in a village between Falmouth and Truro in Cornwall. Our house and our immediate neighbours have regular nesting families of sparrows every year in every conceivable little gap or crevice between walls and roof.
I think we had a "new hen" in the regular nest site over our front porch. She seemed to understand the need to remove the fecal sacs from the nest but just dropped them out of the opening - onto our patio area. Ah well! A young inexperienced mother. We believe she raised two broods and saw young at the nest entrance on both occasions - so - perhaps she'll return with a little more knowledge next Spring? :-)
It's all around us - 24/7 :-)
In looking up for some factual information on the House Sparrow I came across a very interesting site - "Sialis".
It is actually a North American site, but as I say, I found it very informative and extremely interesting :-)

Hi,
I have taken a look at the site you mentioned and as you say it is very interesting. I have added it to My favorites for future reference.
