Bromham Rd, Bedford.

Hi

Do any of you live along this road through Bedford? I live near the Railway with a small garden on its embankment and Bird life is minimal. I have a feeder dispencing Peanuts, Seeds and Fats. At present this is idle with no birds, but have had Robins, Gt Tits and Blackbirds, with rarities like Redwing and Blackcap in the Winter and rogues like Magpies and Rooks sometimes, but never any Starlings or House Sparrows.

If there are any of you what do you see?

  • Hello Ex-T-Racer,

The disappearance of birds from your garden could be a seasonal phenomenon that is discussed on our website here

And there's some great advice on attracting and helping birds here

I know your area reasonably well, and if you were to take a short walk down the river to Kempston Lock, you have a good chance of encountering kingfisher, grey wagtail and Mandarin duck. For the last few years, there has even been a peregrine over-wintering in Bedford town centre, so it's always worth looking up!

    Best wishes,

    Darren
