Last weekend while having coffee outside in the sunshine (yes, really!) my friend suddenly said "come and see, I've got a frog in my watering can". So, I peered into the can and sitting at the bottom in about half an inch of water was this very fat amphibian. It looks wartier than the frogs I see in my own garden so I guess it is a toad. Does anybody know and is it this fat because it is due to spawn? I tipped it out of the can as it wouldn't have been able to get out otherwise and we left it alone. After about half an hour I checked on it and it had gone. I hope it went and found a pond somewhere.

Hi Seymour, Thank you for the ID. Yes, it does indeed look very pregnant! Hope it made it to the pond in time :-)
Tis a frog who is trying to look too big for you to eat.
Not that I think your into that sort of thing of course.!
Lol! You are quite right Juno, I don't fancy a frog burger! I much prefer to see them swimming or hopping about in their natural environment ;-)
