Back in January i wrote a post about a Heron who had started joing the ducks feeding time and was eating bread.
think this wasnt doing the poor thing much good i bought some trout from the local supermarket and cut it up to feed him he ate it and ive been doing it once a week or so.
He isnt always there now so im guessing he is finding food elsewhere too.
Today he was back so i managed to take some pictures they were only on my phone so not fantastic.... Just need to figure out how to add them to here now ive added it to the gallery...Heron- river fray
Here we go these are three of the pictures i took today, in the third one the Heron is to the middle left of the picture, the bottom of my garden is the opposite side of the river where you can just make out a brick wall.
Nikki, I look forward to seeing your photograph. You really have been fantastic taking trout to feed this poor heron and you have probably saved it's life. I admire you for caring so much.
Edit- I have just looked at your photograph, the heron looks fine but I am sure you will always look out for it as you have built up such a close relationship with it.
Crikey Nikki, that's above and beyond the call of duty. He must be the best fed heron in Middlesex. Well done for getting him through the winter. A lot of water birds have suffered badly during the severe weather this year but I would have thought he would be OK now.

Very well done Nikki - he looks a fine healthy bird. Without you he might well have been in a very sorry state by now and I am sure he will know that and remember you in any more bad weather in the future. You are probably his friend for life now - and not many people can say that about a heron.
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Well done Nikki, you deserve a medal, and I hope he stays faithful to you.
