Last week I had Mr. Chaffinch, and this morning I had Mrs. Chaffinch. I've never seen one in my garden before, so another first. I initially spied her in next door's tree, watching my garden, then she landed on my fence and posed for a photo, then she moved towards a feeder and posed again but decided against using the feeder and flew to the ground where she had a 5 minute meal in a shrub tub underneath the feeding station.

Fabulous photos Sparrow, well done. I soooo miss my Mrs Chaffinch. She was with me for about two years all day every day - except for when she was sitting on eggs - and even then, when Mr C took over to let her feed she was in no hurry to go back. Mr C used to bang on and on and on calling her but she always ignored him! I hope the pair of them will give you as much pleasure as mine gave me. Mine never used the hanging feeders but once they found the tables they used those rather than feeding from the ground.
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!

I'm sorry your Mrs C hasn't come back. She must have perished somehow. Maybe Mr C will find another mate. The last photo shows her about to "walk the plank", which is the top of a wooden bracket with a feeder hanging from it, and next to it is a fence mounted tray, which is what she was looking at. Maybe if she keeps coming she will get braver.
It is lovely to hear you talk about Mr. & Mrs. Chaffinch. We get so many chaffinch ( and I am not boasting ) that I have never got to know any individuals. Sorry you lost Mrs. Chaffinch, Squirrel.. You obviously had a 'pet' bird there.

Thats excellent Sparrow, my Mr Chaffinch is now Mr and Mr Chaffinch no female yet, but my Mr Piedy turned into Mr and Mrs Piedy today, yeahhhh. I'm so chuffed for him.

Well done on more great pictures. Your garden must be very inviting with all these new visitors. It's lovely to see all the birds pairing up. One of my robins was singing his little heart out at the weekend, but the other one just carried on eating and ignored him (bless). I have an extra collared dove too. There were 4 but one has gone missing which is sad.
I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...
