Here are some pics that I think show the character of two birds that we see so often, They are not as colourful as finches and tit, but I think they make up for this in character.
He looks so grumpy!

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...

Unfortunately I can't see you photos Sarah :o(
But I too think, Sparrows especially, are underrated. they're a beautiful bird and not just a little brown blob that's not of interest.
Look forward to seeing your photos :o)
Sorry you can't see the pics. Have made them much smaller files as thought this might be causing the problems, but obviously not small enough.
Hope they re appear soon, I can still see them at the moment
Think its more gremlins than anything else. No doubt next time I come to look they'll be working :o)
I can see them, Bramble. Exactly as you describe them. Lovely photographs.
Sorry Bramble, but I can't see them.
I think some sparrows are very colourful, especially adult males in flight. They have a lot of white wing bars, and their brown bits are very yellowish-brown. The females have lovely little faces, so cute.
Cheers, Linda.

Those that can and cannot see the pics has no rhyme or reason. It's a total pain though
Hi Bramble, I see your pictures, love the shot of the Robin, another one of my favorite birds, I think I would be hard pushed to pick a favourite bird. I like them all Sparrows as well. The Sparrows I get won't come into the garden, they sit on top of my ivy watching all the other birds feasting, I had one venture in a while back, and nothing since.
There is a sufficiency in the world for man's need but not for man's greed.
I feel so sorry for anyone who hasn't got a colony of sparrows. They play and eat all day (except when it rains, then they shelter in the hedge), and are so noisy at times, chirrupping and chirping away. They are happy little birds, and give hours of entertainment.
Hi Brambles, I used to think sparrows were boring brown birds, but have recognised their prettiness over the years. When the sun catches the underside of the females especially. they shine silver. I read somewhere that they cause more false I.Ds than any other bird.
It amazes me how many people think robins only visit gardens in the winter months. Am I lucky to get them all year round?
