I gave my Garden to the Bee's, look what they gave me back....

I have been planting my garden up with Bee friendly plants for some time, a lot are due to flower in the next few months, but I already have quite a lot in flower now.

I gave up a big section of my lawn from mowing and the White Clover has been covered in little bumbles for ages.

I have also sown and grown Calendula for the Bees.

I have got plenty of Scabious species on the go...

All this for the Bees you see.... and then... I sowed Phacelia all over my Veg patch..

Lots of it...

Are you still with me.....?

Then I sowed lots of Borage... for the Bee's...

Finally I grew them Sea Holly..... They liked that...

So, I did this all for the Bees, they came in their droves and feasted on my flowers...

So what did they do in return for me..?

Are you ready....?

They Pollinated My Strawberries.!!!!

Lots.!!!

Get a load of these babies....

And this lot....i'm gonna need a bigger bowl.!

Woohoo.!

Thanks Bee's. Together we make a great team!

Hi Juno. Lovely flowers. I think Corriepaw was asking about flowers for bees so I hope he sees this excellent thread.

Juno, I think it's wonderful to encourage wildlife into the garden and look how the bees repaid you! I have bees and I have strawberries but nothing like the amount you have!

Borderslass what a beautiful photo, I am amazed at the standard here. Ignore those comments,  there will be more to come no doubt -.carry on as you are. I enjoyed looking at your photo.

  • Hi Juno, I love your garden and I love the plants you have put in, you must be awash with the sound of buzzing!  Strawberries look great too, a sweeter taste when you know it's from your own garden.   I never knew you did Bob Marley impressions, what else do you do?

Are you doing the bee walk survey?

Hi Borderlass, lovely photo! it's a brilliant close up did you enlarge it or have you got some super zoom kit there? :-)

  • Great pic Borderlass :0))

An optimist sees the beauty of the complete rose.A pessimist sees only the thorn .

  • Sorry Borderlass, I was so incensed I forgot to say what a great photo it is, and I hope there are many more from you.

Juno - I've also let my lawn grow, and it is covered in white clover and bees. Any advice on what to do with it after the clover is finished? It is so dry at the moment it isn't growing anyway!

    Cheers, Linda.

  • Well, I really enjoyed that. The most charming thread and very informative as well, thank you Juno. I hope to attract more bees so I have made a note of a couple of the plants I didn't know. Scabious are such beautiful flowers, weird name for such a lovely species. Gorgeous photos and brilliantly written, a joy to read..

Borderslass: gorgeous photo, I am glad you love bees, so do I, and it means you must have more stunning photos to show us??

    Kind regards Jane.

  • Thanks for your kind comments everybody  :-)

    Great pic Borderslass.

I was a bit worried that you would all think I was a bit bonkers posting all that.

I shall do more impressions in due course, but at the moment I need a lie down, eaten lots of Strawberries you see.

Jars to sort out now, and jam to make...when its a bit cooler.

Thank you  everyone, being new here I thought I had done something wrong the way the "Original " comment was posted !  I suppose in all fairness to Blackbird then, yes all the threads can and from what I have seen so far, do get taken over by other peoples photos, however if you don't want this to happen, it should be made clear from the beginning, and not made as a sly comment! which is then erased !

I love my wildlife and photography, it gives me great pleasure to share it with you and get positive feedback or constructive critique, thank you all so far for your generous comments xx

Hi Kezmo, I have 2 lenses I use for close up/macro shots

Canon  EF 70- 300 mm  USM   Zoom

Canon EFS 60 mm   this lens is a dedicated Macro lens, so it allows the image to be pin sharp.

I then resize in photoshop so you can see the fine detail. I have not had it very long, so still playing, I want to get a shot of one of those lovely little orange bottomed Bees.

Yes Jef I love bees, more so now I have discovered the wonders of Macro photography !

I must take a leaf out of Juno's book and leave the clover alone :)

Cheerio the noo you lot :)
