RSPB Grassholm: No landing policy

Fersiwn Gymraeg ar gael yma

Whilst we appreciate the concern that the recent BBC Wales article on RSPB Grassholm's plastic issue raises, we urge well-meaning boat owners not to land on the island. This special island is a designated sanctuary for gannets protected by laws and has had a no public landing policy in place since 1996. If nests are disturbed, eggs and chicks can be damaged and lost. The population of gannets on RSPB Grassholm has increased dramatically over the last 60 years and is currently stable at 36,000 pairs.

We’re thankful for members of the public offering their time and effort, but we must adhere to the no public landing policy and leave the matter to RSPB Cymru staff.
