I ddarllen y blog yma yng Nghymraeg cliwich yma.Since joining forces with the City of Cardiff Council in 2014 to deliver our Giving Nature a Home in Cardiff project, we’ve enabled more than 8,000 children in Cardiff to deepen their connection to nature in and around their school grounds. This year the RSPB also launched a new programme delivering free outreach sessions to schools in a further 15 cities around the UK thanks to the generous support of Aldi.
With Aldi funding we’re now able to extend our outreach programme in Cardiff to children under five attending nurseries and play groups across the city. Our early years sessions have already been well received by a wide variety of settings including Nursery and Reception classes in primary schools.
We’re also able to deliver our outreach sessions to every single class within each primary school and early years setting in the city.

Our primary sessions include our ever popular Giving Nature a Home and brilliant Bioblitz sessions. Whilst our Big Schools’ Birdwatch has now become so familiar to schools we’ve handed over the reins for schools to lead, but with plenty of supporting resources on our website. In its place we’ve also introduced two new sessions, developed by our expert team, that focus on developing children’s literacy through nature. Our Wild Words sessions for primary schools and early years settings will be available from January 2018.
The opportunities for schools to inspire children to get closer to nature doesn’t end there. Our Wild Challenge for schools is a perfect way to continue the momentum. Each of our outreach sessions count as a Wild Challenge Activity and form a great starting point for completing the six activities required to achieve the Wild Challenge Bronze Award. From there further nature-based activities await to reach Silver and Gold.
Our Wild Challenge activities are not the only free resources available on our website. Click here to access even more resources all designed to enable more children to discover and enjoy our fantastic wildlife.
