long tailed tits

I had longtailed tits for the first time during the January snow.They came to the garden twice in a flock of about a dozen and stayed for only a few seconds and I was thrilled to bits!! Needless to say I have not seen them since!

I also had a very bried visited yesterday, but in my excitement to try and get the camera they flew off not to be seen again.

I've had a couple of them several times in the past two days.  Previous to this I've only seen them a couple of times. I get so excited when they come into my garden but they don't stay really long.

By the way for anyone who wants to attract them, they love Suet, fat balls and peanuts.

The first ever time I saw them I jumped out of my seat and ran up close to the window and spooked them. I was so angry with myself. Now I just stay seated at the table and stay came.

Longtail tits are very elegant birds, and they tend to be with several others so it is not unusual to see them like this. They suffer in cold weather so need the fats, but love meal worms that have been re-hydrated.

Same here. We've seen flocks of up to 16 in the last few days. What a sight. It took me while to get a picture of them. I enjoy the Bird Watch.

We've got a flock of long tailed tits that regularly come into the garden. Give themselves away by their high pitched twittering. Unmistakable with their very long tails and pretty black/white/pink plumage. Although today I just saw 2 in my hour watching but usually there are between 8 and 10. Beautiful little birds and watched closely they have a red eye ring that looks like make-up!

Hi Genie, I have a flock of Long Tailed Tits that come every day, they are so elegant birds arent they? such busy birds, dont stay long just long enough to have a quick meal on the fatballs and then they are off, only seem to come once a day, they come on feeders even when I am close to them .
