I was really pleased with my day,. normally the birds hide on this day,its as if they know we are watching them. But to day my regulars came and more .Well pleased.I loveGoldfinches and Chaffinches,we had a bullfinch in the week but not today.

Ah, I have a way of dealing with that. I note the maximum numbers seen in each 5-minute period of the hour. Then if something spectacular happens 10 minutes after the end, I can see what I would lose if I extended the hour at the end and chopped ten minutes off the beginning. It worked well this year - I gained a goldfinch and a bevy of long-tailed tits, and only lost one of my two chaffinches.
