Did my birdwatch between 9 and 10am today. Wondered why there were fewer birds than usual in the garden. Then I spotted the culprit. Female Sparrowhawk in the garden. I'll forgive her my poor results as it's the first time I've seen a sparrowhawk. Enjoy photo. Happy bird spotting!!
Or you could load it to photobucket and post the link..... I got some cool sparrowhawk photos last month and posted them on my bird blog.

Thank you doggie. First time to a forum so been going round in circles a bit!!
Our sparrowhawk stayed hidden so we got a reasonable variety this morning.

Oops - will have to check my species identifier more. I had a look on the RSPB Bird Identifier and assumed it was a female from the pictures they show. How can you tell this is a male?
Oh for a visit by your Sparrowhawk ! During my Birdwatch this morning there were 21 Woodpigeons in the trees of my garden..yes 21! I'm sure pigeons drive off the smaller garden birds, there were very few today. We are over run by Woodies!
Nice picture, Kate, and well done for uploading it.

The Sparrowhawk must have known it was birdwatch weekend and come out for his own survey
