I've spent the day doing a sort of trial run of Big Garden Birdwatch, mostly to try and gauge the best way to count my House Sparrows and boy is it difficult! There are roughly 30+ living in the conifers and when trying to count them they just keep appearing!
I wonder if I could get them all to line up on the lawn, LOL
I know how you feel we get lots of sparrows!
Ktlbow
Have a look at the thread on counting starlings.
If the numbers are large, as with sparrows and starlings, it is an estimate and doesn't matter if the number you submit is plus or minus a few.
Anyway, Paul, I thought you didn't have any these days!!! (sorry, couldn't resist that one!!!)
Cheers, Linda.

LOL Sparrow! That sounds like jealousy ;o)
Actually they made their return on friday (I think they've remembered where their loyalty lies!) and spent most the day on their feeders, so I was pleased when they were still about yesterday. Although they're not eating much with me, more sitting around.

Correct!!!
Mine have been harassed today by, of all things, one of my quiet, well-behaved, un-assuming little dunnocks, who thinks he is a blackbird.

Oh, haha! I'd have never thought a Dunnock would act in such a way! Time to worry is when he starts acting like a Blackbird to the Blackbirds, lol!
