It may only be the 3 December but we're already gearing up for the next Big Garden Birdwatch, it's really not that far away!!!
Registering now makes submitting your results in January quicker and easier plus when you register you'll get a £5 off discount code to use in the RSPB online shop!
Once you have registered we will send you some reminder e-mails leading up to the big weekend to help you prepare and get the most out of your Birdwatch hour.

Warden Intern at Otmoor.
I have also registered, looking forward to that :)
Joined today and looking forward to it.
I've registered and hope there's something somewhere that explains what I need to do and how to submit the information etc.
I'm not seeing that on the web site?
A bird in the hand can make an awful mess!
As far as i can remember northernlass another link opens up on the day or shortly after it starts allowing you to submit results :)
Hi there,
Thanks all for your interest in Big Garden Birdwatch! All you need to know about taking part can be found on the Birdwatch website, specifically this page here:
www.rspb.org.uk/.../how.aspx
A 'submit results' button on the homepage will appear just before the weekend itself and you have until 15th Feb to submit your results. Hope that helps?
Many thanks
Sarah
Erm..... so now I'm being really thick. So have I to say the greatest number of each species I see at the precise same time?
I'm thinking that's going to be hard/impossible considering I ordinarily have about 30 finches, nuthatches, tits, goodness knows how many hedge sparrows and scores of pheasants and miscellaneous other stuff at any given moment at just one feeding station and I've 3 feeding stations.
Hi northernlass - yes please, this means you're less likely to count the same birds more than once. Good luck, sounds like it will be quite a challenge with all those birds!
Yep.... it's wildlife heaven where I live. Going to have a practice run this morning and see how possible this will be!
I have downloaded a pdf document which helps but I'm blowed if I know which page that was on now.
Just checking the page 'What birds to look out for' I have all those birds visiting my garden except the long tailed tit. The long tailed tit I only ever see out the front of my property on the road not in the garden. I guess its only the birds coming into the garden that should be recorded is that right? Or should I record any long tailed tits that are out front on the birdwatch weekend?
~Actually, I think it might be the wag tail I'm seeing on the road not the long tailed tit.
