hi all.definately a greenfinch, and because of depth of colour a male.this is one i had visiting regularly last year,a lovely bird i think.not seen many this year though
I get loads of greenfinches, male and female - in fact they are more common at my bird table than blue tits/great tits.
thank you all for your help
Greenfinch are very common garden birds you should get lots of them in your garden...
But they are in serious decline due to disease ................ we see less and less of them, and they are not at all common in my garden. Just the odd pair.
Cheers, Linda.

I used to get masses of greenfinches in my South London garden. Haven't seen one here for years, despite being a regular supplier of bird feed to other species. Anyone know any more about the disease that is affecting them? Can ordinary bird lovers do anything to help minimise risk of it locally?
