I have some left over pineapple. Is this OK to put out for my garden birds?
Is it fresh, or tinned? Tinned fruit contains extra nasties that may not be good for birds.
Cheers, Linda.

It was in one of those little plastic pots with a peel off lid with jelly. I can wash the jelly off though.
I would throw it away Rosemary. You don't know what added extras there are, especially sugar. It isn't worth it.
Might be different if it were fresh pineapple
OK Thanks.
I've tried fresh pineapple before, the larger birds had a go last summer (that day we had lol) but I didn't think the little birds were at all interested and the larger birds soon lost interest also. In fact I've noticed this winter they have only been interested in wind fall apples. I've put out supermarket blueberries and grapes, they are not interested, but of course when my own grown currants and berries are ready its a hard job to keep them off. ~They know what's good for them I think.
I tried mine on Honeydew melon rind (whole pieces) & the seeds but they weren't interested - threw it all over the path!!!!

I've fed it and the blackbirds in particular loved it.
A bird in the hand can make an awful mess!
Well that's gratitude for you Wendy LOL !!
