As you were all so helpful on the Blackcap can you tell me what this is? maybe a chiffchaff or a willow warbler maybe?? I need to learn so much!

Well, I'd suggest either of the names you've given! If it's recent, I'd say more likely chiffchaff, but I'm useless with telling them apart until they sing!

Have to say I think it was a chiffchaff too. thanks
I would say Chiffchaff too. It appears to have long primary projections (wing tips), not a very strong supercilium (eyebrow) and it's holding its tail down. These are all indicators of a Chiffchaff. Plus, they are one of the earliest warblers to arrive. Of course, if you heard it call its name there would be no doubt. LOL

Incidentally, Marmite, just a tip. If you want something identified it's better to post it in the "Identify this" forum. The BGBW forum is over for this year.

thanks Tee Jay
That is a chiffchaff 100% if you are in doubt about these warblers, this bird has a hugely distictive two note song that will drive you mad...the similar willow warbler is yellower and has a descending song not unlike the music is Laurel and Hardy when Ollie is covered in gunge and Stan is looking guilty....
love your way of putting it!! I now keep hearing the chiffchaff song!!
can anyone id this "bug" thank you
Thank you.
UGH!!! Get it off I have such a phobia about moths!!! Odd thing is I have no problem with butterflies!!
