Woke up this morning to find my first Blackcap pecking away at the berry suet block! I hope this means he'll be a regular now:-)
Still no sign of goldfinches though, anyone else here in the north Wiltshire area getting visits on their feeders?
I've had my first ever blackcaps (m&f) this last week and my goldfinch count increased from a measly 3 to a 6 (I'm in W Oxford city). Opinions on whether the blackcaps are likely to have moved here early from the continent because of the v cold weather there ...or have they been hiding out in the UK countryside until the snow has sent them looking for food??
I've had a female blackcap for a few week,( west midlands) but also had a male turn up last week.
