I live in West London and a large flock of redwings has been systematically stripping the large holly tree in my garden since Saturday - half the
tree de-berried so far!
They are still at it today, Tuesday. I have never seen them locally before - is this unusual.
Posie
We've got loads in Essex........... but then TOWIE!
Ben
I've been going on about this in another post, there are loads and loads and loads in my Hertfordshire garden, and quite a few fieldfares too. Someone suggested bad weather on the continent has sent them over here.
Toadflax.
We are half way between Nottingham and Derbyshire, our neighbour has a neglected apple tree with masses of windfalls, yesterday and today a and a small flock of redwing, between 12 and 20, and a bigger flock of fieldfares, about 25 or 30 ,have been gorging themselves pretty well all day. I have never seen these birds in a suburban garden before and it has been a joyous experience.
I haven't seen any yet here in Ipswich but Woodbridge down the road from me has them.
Kind regards Richard.
I live in Hounslow, West London, and counted a flock of 40+ redwings resting up in the beech and sycamores in mine and neighbouring gardens on sunday 5th. Perhaps they spotted your holly tree from there !
