Hi
have any of the group had problems with starlings over the watch weekend?. We have a large tree on the far side of the school playing field at the end of our garden, this is used as a lookout by a group of up to 50 Starlings, as soon as a small bird goes on the feeders we can get up to 30 descend from the tree and take over the feeders driving all smaller birds away. Today the 31 january the starlings were away for a while and we had 4 blackbirds, 8 House Sparrows,1 Wren,1 Robin and 2 Bluetits, Starlings returned, no more small birds.

Hi Alan,
thanks for your tip, but with a garden only 10m x10m they can find anything, even feeding on the patio step.
Regards birdy
I had a baby starling that flew into my kitchen the other day ha ha they are getting too cheeky they are trying to get in my food cupboards now ha ha...i shooed it from the hall but it landed on the kitchen window i didnt want to pick it up with bare hands as to leave my sent on it so i grabbed it with a teatowel and he flew of ok.................He had a cheeky squeak at me tho ha ha ..........
how sweet! My bluetits flew on Monday and I have seen them in the trees but so far I haven't seen them in the garden.

Maybe I get less of the smaller birds, because of the starlings, but I think they are great fun to watch. Had one hovering at my window, the other day,as if it was asking for more food.
