We normally have 2 male black caps in our garden every winter, this year they are both missing, anyone else seeing this??
Its been really mild this winter in Jersey could this be the reason??
I took these yesterday, never seen them before. I also saw another female.
They were at the feeders for most of Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunatley due to work, I couldn't watch them today. I managed to get home in time (while it was still light) to refill all the feeders and sure enough they were both still there.
Any idea if they will return to Europe to breed?
Maybe I can pursuade them to stay? I'll have to make sure there is always plenty of their favourite food out! Looking forward to the weekend to see who is visiting the feeders.
My male turned up for BGBW then this afternoon he turned up on the patio ground feeder with his mates the House Sparrows grabbed a snack of suet pellets and flew off with one for latter :-)
A very old Shropshire Lad.
They certainly make a lovely pair, not sure what my 2nd female is going to do!
We had a single female Blackcap visit our garden in '10 and '11.
This year the lone visitor was male.
I had my first ever blackcap visitor last winter (a male) and was hoping for another this winter - but no joy. Maybe next year.
