Did the garden Birdwatch over the weekend. All the visitors to the feeders were the usual suspects. Then this morning I've had the long-tail tits in, a big flock, and the great spotted woodpecker, that comes about once a week. Flippin' typical!
ooh as I type the long tails have returned. and now the nuthatch, who tends to bully all the other birds, and takes control of all 4 feeders.
The feeders are hanging a yard or so from my living room window....peanuts, mixed seed, fat balls and mealworms
Totally agree.Loads more birds today though the weather conditions are the same!
I think they must know. Usually it's quiet out there at this time of morning, but it's like bird central out there just now
Crikey the Great spotty just came back and hung on the nut-feeder for ages. I've got such a brilliant view from here
I just rang my brother to see if his feeders are busy too.....I quote "it's like Heathrow airport out there"
Me too ,watched the garden in the morning whilst thinking lets get cracking its full of birds , eventually got round to sitting by the french doors at 1 and omg dismal, had the same happen last year too , i think i need to get my act together and do it in the morning really.
I did mine between 3-4 in the afternoon, as it's usually quite busy then, pre-dusk.
I had the starling hooligans seeing off my favourites yesterday. Today it is snowing a bit, so lots more variety. Heard my tawny owl yesterday but couldn't add it to the count as I didn't see it. He hoots all afternoon too - spring is definitely on the way.
