I was pleased that the cold snap came just in time (not that it is fun for the birds) to encourage birds i hadn't seen for a few weeks to come back into my garden - a blackcap, a thrush and several more dunnocks than I had seen recently.
As usual my birds never do what u want them to. Last yr I did not get a single bird during my hour then they all came. This year I got plenty of birds but not the usual ones. More Chaffinches but less Goldfinches 2 'when there are usually at least a dozen. Same with Sparrows 5 usually about a dozen. We also get collared doves and wood pigeons that stayed away. We often have a Marsh/willow tit quite often.
Luckilly I also do the BTO Garden Birdwatch every week so I can record everything there.
