Well, pencil out, tally chart at the ready , the usual regulars at the bird table and feeders - 3 jays today pinching the nuts, tick, Robin, tick - started counting the goldfinches and WHAM! All scattered - next thing yellow legs - talons and one x goldfinch (poor thing) but WHAT a magnificent bird! He (or she) stayed for 10 minutes de-feathering and eating his catch on the roof of the bird table and I managed to get a surreptitious photo too! Not many birds after that though, but well worth it!!! WOW! :)
