Hi all, This is the first BGB that myself and my 9 year old son have taken part in, and we've really enjoyed it. My son has only become interested in birds within the last 6 months or so, but already is quite an expert and his enthusiasm has encouraged myself and my husband too, and we have recently joined the RSPB, visited the local reserve etc. He wanted to let you all know what we saw in our bird watch yesterday in our back garden. We saw two goldfinches, 12 sparrows, 2 blue tits, 1 robin, 1 magpie, 1 collared dove, 3 starlings and 1 blackbird. We normally see more than this, and we feel sure its as if the birds know we are watching them and making notes! Looking forward to reading the results when they come out.
Hi there it becomes addictive, this is my 3rd year, I love all the little birds that come, costs a fortune with food but well worth it :)
Rachell :)
It was my first this year as well.
And I did notice that a vast majority of birds declined to feed in the garden at this time. Proberly because I was by my window lol.
Definitely worth it. I always look out for special offers with bird food, and of course support the RSPB by buying from them when visiting a Centre. We are very lucky in that our living room looks out onto the back garden via massive patio doors, so we have a constant view of all the birds that visit us. :-)
