It's good to report that in my bird watch hour today in northern Cumbria I recorded eleven tree sparrows. Why they thrive in this part of the world I don't know but these delightful little birds are always around in large numbers. Two house sparrows turned up for the count but they don't figure much in my garden.
Hi Bilberry, eleven Tree Sparrows - wow! I'd love them in my garden but have never had them. Even my House Sparrows have done a bunk, for the moment.
