This may be cheating but we own some land behind our house which has a large man-made pond/ lake in it. There's a fence between our garden and the land but while we were doing the BGBW today we saw a large black goose-like bird fly over and land on the lake. It then proceeded to start diving for about 15 minutes so we were able to get the binoculars on it - and it was a cormorant. We're a long way inland so this was a big surprise, but nevertheless quite exciting to see this even though it won't count...
Just hope you don't get a nesting colony. This is near Macclesfield which is also well inland. Their droppings kill the trees.
The heronry right nextdoor on the same reservoir isn't a problem.
