HAve had either a MArsh or Willow tit on my feeders for the BGB this morning but not sure which. Is there an easy way to tell ?
The only certain way is from their call.

Thanks Galatas...still not sure but thinking Marsh as very shiny and smooth edged black cap .
Whichever it is you're lucky to have them in your garden. Nice birds.
and such a suprise, not had one here before. Robin wouldnt let him stay long but made three or four trips back to feeders.
I tend to think a marsh tit looks like a willow tit in a new hat.
If it had a white spot on the lower mandible it's a Marsh Tit, but can be hard to see. Do you have any photos? Marsh Tit is probably more likely as well, depending on where you are. If in doubt, don't submit it.
Home again, home again.
