After a long absence we have had Greenfinches at our sunflower hearts feeder regularly this winter. They come in groups of three or four and they look healthy. I know greenfinches have had real problems with Trichomonosis in recent years.
Are other Big Garden Birdwatchers seeing healthy Greenfinches?
I too have a group of 4 greenfinches monopolising the seed feeders which are filled with sunflower hearts. They seem to be doing relatively well, along with a couple of chaffinches and a small flock of long-tailed tits. I wonder if this could be, in part, because a neighbour's cat has been decimating the wood pigeon population.
Had two this morning.
Never had any Greenfinches or Goldfinches in our garden, that i have seen anyway. Sitting here hoping they will visit one day :)
A couple of years ago we had loads (over 20) of green finches having a magnificent time on the thistle seeds however last year and this we havent really had any. Its the wrong time of year for the thistle seeds so I'm not surprised that I havent seen any today.
