Very quiet this morning when we first went out to do our count and sure enough the sparrowhawk came through on his usual feeding run, he seems to target the blue tits and is always spot on, never misses. Also saw Greenfinches for the first time this morning, Bullfinch and Chaffinch and a Jay and the Local Great spotted woodpecker but the highlight just before the end of the hour was seeing a Red Kite, I would have loved to have taken some photos or a video but my Camera died on me a couple of days ago. Still it was an excellent hour Bird spotting in the garden.
We have a regular sparrow hawk visit but normally target pigeons. The cats are our main predators and in the past week I have seen the remnants of a pigeon and a few Goldfinch tail feathers. Not nice but it is nature I suppose. Cats get shooed off whenever I see them though! I figure the Sparrow Hawk is only doing what it has to to survive.
