Hello everyone, I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the BGBW today and thought i'd share some of our visitors with you! Hope you like them :-)
My lovely Blue Tits
LTT and a Robin
One of the many Starlings!
My Collared Dove, who did eventually decide to land in the garden to eat!
My Blue Tit's again - there were another 5 waiting in the bushes at the side!! lol
I think this is one of the female House Sparrows?
Mr (or Mrs) Robin decided to come into the front garden :-)
Oh yes, and my feeder in the back garden all ready this morning!!
Maggie x
Thank you! I knew I should have waited before submitting my results, as i type i've just counted 20 (and i jest not) House Sparrows feeding in my back garden! Doh!! :-)
Nice selection Maggie. Just love Long Tailed Tits :)
Wow. Great photos. Must add camera to our bird watching kit for next time. Obvious really, but didn't think of it this morning.
Me & 3 ;)
Such lovely photo's a great selection of birds. I love the idea for the feeders that would be great in my garden as I haven't got any trees to hang them from
Thank you! The bird feeder was bought from our local Garden Centre, it cost about £25 or a bit under if memory serves me right! So easy to put together and very handy too! We've also got feeders hanging from fence posts in our garden, just somewhere different for the birds and to stop them fighting (sometimes)!
What fantastic photos Maggie, looks like you had a great day & a lot of visitors. I'm new to birdspotting & the RSPB and had a fantastic day. I counted for the hour but ended up watching for another 2 as I was so engrossed. Can't believe I have turned a blind eye to such interesting nature on our very own doorstep.
I can't believe i've turned a blind eye in the past either! We moved house in November 2010, now we've got a bigger garden. It was only last year that we decided to buy the bird feeding station! I love watching and trying to identify the birds in my garden but being a complete novice, had to go on-line to identify a lot of the birds (embarassing now), but I guess we all have to start somewhere eh!! :-) I am proud to say I'm really enjoying this and especially today taking part in the BGBW! I've seen my 1st Wren today too! We had 3 of them in total, but perhaps they've been here before but I never noticed them?!! I might go to our local Garden Centre tomorrow, to buy some nesting boxes :-)....... really getting into it now!
You sound as addicted as me! lol I got RSPB books, feeders etc for xmas from folk to keep me interested. I've only seen a wren once, on my patio dead sadly, cat took it in. So they're obviously about. I also so a treecreeper for the 1st time last week along the local canal. I'll be following your posts. Enjoy your new interest too x
Some lovely photos there Maggie. Thanks for sharing them.
Viv.
I've bought my first book on Birds today! Went to the local Garden Centre to buy a nestbox and decided to check out their books.......it's a Bird identifier/illustration book and it's fab! I think I'm officially hooked!! :-))
