We have had at least 5 Redwings in our garden, harvesting the holly berries over the last 3 days.
How wonderful. We had some last year but no sightings of them so far this winter.

That's brilliant Greg!

Where I live some hedge-cutting addict in a tractor insists on removing every single berry from the miles of hedges in this area in October, just before the Fieldfares arrive to find nothing. I can understand some need cutting where they may be close to roads but the majority of it is just a waste of time and money and done just for the sake of it with no thought for wildlife over the winter. Does anyone else have the same problem with hedge-cutting imbeciles?
yes the farmers have been told to cut every two to three years.
This is every year, nothing spared
