I have always had gold finches feeding on the sunflower seed feeds, but today there were a flock of about 50 feeding on all the feeders and on the ground. Fantastic
Fantastic Sandra. The winter migrants have well and truly arrived - I have about 30 of them.
Cheers, Linda.

hi i get golfinchs all the time in my garden all year through but the last few day i havent seen any on my feeders any idears why ?
I get them here all year round but for the past couple of months their numbers have grown more than ever and they're presence is mafia-like !
I've mentioned the increase in numbers to several people and there does seem to be a general increase at the moment.
I think the resident ones had an excellent breeding season this last summer. I was innundated by babies, far more than I would expect.
Just looked through some of your Flicker photos, Linda, you've some beautiful pictures of garden birds - which are my favourite to watch.
Thank you Redwing - that's a very kind thing to say, and appreciated!
Great stuff, you beat our record of 43 goldfinches. My young daughter and I sat and counted them best we could! Mainly squabbling over niger seeds though!
Only 43 ? Hardly worth getting out of bed to see. LOL
Sadly not in my garden though.
