Rook

At the bottom of the wooded area that I am fortunate to live in there are a row of lime trees, which have been there at least since I was a kid. The trees to the east of the road house a medium sized rookery so I suppose it should have been no surprise when a large black rook landed on my old bird-table and started wolfing down bread crumbs. Quite put one of our local squirrels nose out of joint. Tried to surreptiously get to the camera but he saw me and took off. I'm hoping he'll return as although I've often seen them in flight and busy high up in the limetree branches, this was my first time seeing one up that close.

Since the rook incident I have re-arranged my feeding area somewhat and now I guess the landing strip is closed to the larger birds. I have tied the fat-ball feeder in an unsatisfactory manner, but if I dont, the squirrel will have it open in a flash.

For some reason, only seeing 1 bluetit at a time, I wonder why.
