Seems to be a shortage of birds in my garden at present! Is it the very cold weather? or have some not arrived from other parts. I am in Lancashire. Jim
Cold weather can actually attract birds into gardens as they seek food and shelter. The wider countryside can be a harsh environment at this time of year and well planted gardens with food on offer are an irresistable draw as natural food sources run low.
Try offering a mix of foods, a few places for birds to drink and think about providing nesting boxes and natural cover and hopefully a few more birds may turn up!

I've not noticed a reduction....they seem to like the gutters and anything containing water so quite lucky, there is a lot of that and a lot of vegetation for them to play in...
