I haven't seen much mention of Siskins on this forum.
Since I started putting out Nigella / Nyjer seed at the beginning of the year I now get up to a dozen Siskins at one time along with Redpolls and Goldfinches. Completed the Garden Watch this morning and counted 8 Siskins 6 Redpolls and 3 Goldfinches among others.
I live in Central Scotland.
Attached photo taken a couple of weeks ago.
I have about 6 in my garden george. northamptonshire
Hi George,
I got 3 Siskins for the first time in Chester Le Street :) Hope they come back, Id love to have as many as you. I get Goldfinches but I think I can dream on for Redpolls :(
My days in the garden would be empty & sad without the birds and their beautiful song. I'm worried that one day I will be alone in that garden when all he birds have gone.
hi
i get lots of goldfinchs i have only seen 1 siskin siting in the tree did not fly down onto the seeders hopeing i could see some redpolls down in torquay.
There are often a number of siskins in my garden in East Sussex, but once last year there was a treeful ( about 30 - 40 of them ) and the noise was incredible. Also have goldfinches every day, some of my neighbours are very envious but they don't put out seeds. It is the sunflower hearts that they feed on in my garden. Have never seen redpolls around here.
I had 8 siskins two days ago in the garden. They stayed for about an hour.

Brilliant, George to get so many Siskins & other birds too. We only get Siskins in Winter & the pair we had here are gone now. Back up your way I suspect.
Best wishes
Val.
