Why not check out the news from the wildlife enquiries team?
Hi - Can you submit more than one snapshot - like a morning hour and one hour later in the day from the same place?
Hi Tom,
I do not have a garden, but will be at my local reserve tomorrow which is fully accessable to the public and has several feeding stations set up.
Is this an acceptable location as I would like to participate if possible
Also in this situation would it be beat to restrict the count to just the feeding station or to include other features that are viewable from the same point - eg small reed fringed pond?
TIA
I will probably do the count anyway for my own enjoyment but will await confirmation before submission
Best regardsNigel

Hi CeeBee
Just one hour is is acceptable as it is all we need to see what is in your area.
Hi barman58
Yeah that's a great place to do the BGBW from and include all the viewable features.
Remember you only need the maximum number of each species you see.
Have Fun
Tom
Does the time of day make a difference to number of birds counted? I'm working (from home) and could only spare an hour over lunch. I'm sure there are certain times of the day when I see more birds in my garden than others.
For instance, Blue Tits seem to be regular visitors to my garden and yet, during the hour I chose, I didn't see one!
Hi Leafster
you can do it what ever time of day you like. Because so many people take part we get a good knowledge of what is seen.
Cheers

I guess statistically it all evens out. I was just a little disappointed that I didn't see some of the regular visitors (Coal Tits & Blue Tits) during my hour.

Thank you Tom,
I will enjoy the count , I promise ;)
