Hi there. This will be the first time I have participated in the big garden birdwatch and I would just like to clarify that I count the number of a particular species present anywhere in the garden at the same point in time rather than the number together in one group. For instance 6 blackbirds all together would be an unusual sight but 6 at various points in the garden at the same time is not unusual.
Hi Carol
That is correct, the number of that species at any one time in your garden (not necessarily grouped).
This could start with one blackbird, and if another turns up whilst the first is present you can count two and so on.
However if the first had flown off before the second turned up you are still on one.
Hope that answers your question
Good Luck
Lee
Thanks Lee. I thought that was the case but dont want to get it wrong
