OK, perhaps the birds were also thinking it was cold, wet, grey and miserable. If they were, though, they weren't letting the conditions get in the way of their usual routine:
The beautiful glossy ibis was still lurking in Eastbridge.
This little egret was on the hunt at the Bittern Hide.
Success!
'BURP!'
A lone male teal.
One of a few moorhens. This one was doing a lovely job of showing its feet.
A cormorant in breeding plumage.
An elegant grey heron flies gracefully across the reedbed.
Perversely, the floppy wings remind me of Droopy!
Nothing droopy about this marsh harrier.
I wish they'd come this close all the time.
Beautiful.
The mute swans at the Island Mere have got me well and truly sussed - all they have to do to be snapped is to simply fly.
Standing in front of me and stretching their wings is a good bet, too.
Hello, Snipey .............. gotcha!
A male mallard .............
........... followed by the Mrs.
Back at the Visitor Centre two of our most common birds were awaiting their turn on the feeders - this handsome great tit .................
........... and this dear little blue tit.
I hope you all enjoy these.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Certainly did enjoy this set Clare, lovely photos again and good to see the G.Ibis is still around. I love the egrets and the herons are always beautiful in flight with those extensive wings. Who could resist dear bluey, they are such pretty little birds and the most amazing devoted parent birds. Can't wait for spring season again :)
