No glaucous gull for me, but still a lovely day.

I was really hoping I'd see the glaucous gull that's been hanging around if I got to Minsmere early enough today, but no such luck.  I still saw plenty, though:

Am I supposed to be seeing fungi in January?

It was quite hard to spot the redwing - they are well camouflaged.

Mrs Mallard is quite happy to have a harem in tow.

A solitary greylag goose.

Nearby, these teals were dozing.

The great black-backed gull flaunts his considerable wingspan over the reedbed.

The Mixed Duck Synchronised Swimming Group.

Enjoying a quiet lurk.

A beautiful young mute swan.  Did I ever mention I love swans?

The view from the Sluice towards the Coastguard Cottages.

It was only when I looked closely at this photo that I saw the grebe on the left hand side!  Great Crested?

Herring gulls are completely and utterly joyful to watch in the air.

My first robin of the day - he was near the entrance stairs to East Hide.

Shovelers are beautiful despite their huge beaks.

Two redshanks foraging companionably.

A nice, clear view of the Bittern Hide from East Hide.

A very obliging male stonechat.

The front view.  Isn't he lovely?

My second robin eyes me up from beside the North Wall path.

A gleaming lapwing on the stone curlew field.

Mrs Blackbird arrives for lunch.  She looks like she means business!

Little and Large on each side of the feeder.

'No room for three in a bed' said Phil and Phyllis.

Yum!

The blue tits maintain a relentless assault on the coconut shell.

'Why am I sharing a photo with a coal tit's bum?' asks the greenfinch.

The coal tit makes its escape.

There were lots of chaffinches about, as usual.

After repeated attempts I finally got a clear shot of the marsh tit!

I'm finishing with my last robin of the day!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
