Limpy and I popped to Minsmere for a few hours yesterday - as much as we both love working there it's great to come as visitors for a change! It was a fresh, breezy day and we saw a nice variety of birds about - I was quite pleased with many of my photos when I got home, but undoubtedly the best ones featured the birds which were pure white! Hence the name of the thread.
This obliging bird was having a good look around at Bittern Hide:
Later on we were at the Island Mere Hide when my other white bird came into view. These are among my favourite birds to see in flight as they are so magnificent:
I was very pleased with these snaps as I had mentioned to one of the guides earlier that day that I really wanted to improve my snaps of birds in flight - I think I got the year off to a reasonable start with these! I hope you all enjoy them.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Fabulous captures Clare!

Nice flight shots of the Swan. I'd say you were off to a good start.

Lovely shots Clare. I'd love to visit Minsmere but it's just too far away; perhaps some day.

Wonderful shots Clare of the L.Egret and especially capturing the swan in flight. I've never visited Mimsmere so hope to get there one day.

Many thanks, all - I'm glad you enjoyed looking at them.
Paul and Hazy - the Suffolk coast is well worth visiting as a holiday destination. It's such a beautiful part of the world and Minsmere is only a small part of it - though it's a particularly special part!
Nice shots
Jill
Nice photos Clare,
FOr those who have not visited, if you send us an email to minsmere@rspb.org.uk then we can send you a leaflet listing local accommodation - what better excuse can there be to book a short break on the Suffolk coast than to visit Minsmere. I'm sure it won't be your only trip.
