Man presumes mastery over the sea, some kind of God given right to rule like Neptune and most of us (namely big corporations) think that they can continuously take with no attempt to give back or preserve its beauty.
We forget that the sea is almost as old as time on our planet itself and has seen millions of years, millions of ecosystems come and go. We presume ourselves to be somehow above this but I fear that neglecting our symbiosis with nature shall be our undoing. Some of must must say no to overfishing and pursuing rare species into extinction.

Aside from the spectacular beauty of the reefs and coastline, and the amazing diversity of the creatures that live below and above the waves, the sea dictates both our past and our future.

Ruth, Unfortunately the Govt have decided to delay any action on creating Marine Zones until at least 2013. They are going to reconsult and likely to drastically reduce the number of the suggested protected areas.
