Hello there

Has anyone been watching Autumnwatch tonight?

9-10pm on BBC 2

Regards

Kathy and Dave

  • The migrant Barnacle geese at Caerlaverock WWT reserve have had some pretty good coverage of late, however recent inside intelligence has suggested there could be an even better place to get some spectacular views! See update on the latest info on the wildlife enquires blog  ;-)

  • I rate Chris Packham very highly, takes me back to the Really Wild Show circa 1987

Yes Chris Packham is very good and his knowledge covers a very wide range but I used to enjoy Bill Oddie he to has a vast knowledge but I also enjoyed his wit.

    I'm enjoying the show.

I think Unsprung isn't structured enough and people miss out on their footage and pictures shown and it goes off topic.

    I miss Bill Oddie.

I am loving the show too.  I think I like the new format of once a week - it takes the pressure off me having to record and watch it every day, as it normally clashes with something else that one of us in house wants to watch.

I haven't been following the deer much in the past, as was a latecomer to Spring and Autumnwatch.  Wasn't sure I wanted to see all the rutting - it looks so violent and potentially deady, as we now know.   But I guess it is good to watch and see how things play out on the rutting fields.

I like Chris Packham, but do miss Bill too.

Autumnwatch Unsprung is good too, a little chaotic, but what can you expect when it is live and who knows what questions may be raised by the viewers.

Sorry I usually push Caelaverock - its easier to get to being our side of the Nith, not driving so far and not via Dumfries - but will be going to Mersehead next weekend!!!!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • We were at Mersehead on Saturday late afternoon.  Numbers certainly seemed up on previous years especially in the fields around the Bruiach Hide.  Amazing close ups.  Still seemed a bit flighty and flew on a couple occasions giving an amazing sight and sound.

Caerlaverock was really busy with visitors. Maybe after Friday nights coverage. The weather was just brilliant though so that probably got people out and about.  Not so many Whoopers in the pond at feeding time but apparently there's a very agressive Mute this yeas, it was even nipping at other mutes. so the Whoopers seem to steering clear. but lots of them to be seen from other hides around the reserve.

All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy.
