Hello there

Has anyone been watching Autumnwatch tonight?

9-10pm on BBC 2

Regards

Kathy and Dave

  • I watched it. Lovely though the wildlife on show may be I just don't know if I can continue watching it for a whole eight weeks, I don't like the new direction. I don't wish to ruffle any feathers (please excuse the pun!) but for me it just isn't the same without Bill Oddie :(

    hi Anna

    I do not miss Bill Oddie at all to be honest. I believe in being flexible towards Wildlife presenters

    I enjoyed the programme (less of the deer please Simon) though i felt sorry fo the deer with one antler.  The one antler deer seemed to have a more robut attitude towards life.  He was quite a character

    Having one antler, (coin the phrase), maybe that is what we need a humans at times to get motivated {wink}

    Loved the Mice part of the programme - so cute!!!

    I liked the 'Unsprung' programme straight  after with the Sparrowhawk in the studio. It gave us a chance to know the real size of a Sparrowhawk and its power as a bird to operate.

    Loved the 2 whole programmes

    What do others think?

  • I sadly missed the show because I forgot it was on.  Can anyone tell me if there's a repeat anywhere please.

    Thanks.

    Paul.

  • Hi Paul

    It is scheduled for 6.15 p.m. tonight on BBC2 with Unsprung following immediately after. And that is my only criticism as they have put it up against Merlin which might leave a lot of kids (and adults come to that!) torn as to which to watch.

    I think the new format is shaping up well - there was quite a lot of telling us all what they will be doing but it is understandable after such a big re-vamp.

    As we don't have the red button facility that Unpsrung was the first OH and I were able to see and we really enjoyed it - would happily have watched an hour of that as well.

    The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.

    The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!

  • That's great news, thanks Squirrel as sadly I missed it too.

    Do you know, if I had a wish it would be to sit in a room with Simon and just have him retell his life with wildlife and the wonderful things he's experienced.

  • Don't know if anyone else has been watching the live webcams of the red deer on Rum but, in case you don't know, Titus has been killed by Percy.

  • Thanks Squirell.  Get the feeling this will be another great series.

    Hi Squirrel

    Thank you for keeping us up to date with all of the happenings

    Sorry to hear of the fateful moment with the Deer {sad}

    Sad - but hopefully things will pick up once more in the Deer article.

    So not all is lost in the moment. {smile}

  • yep, looks like Percy's going to rule again this year.

    All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy.

  • Think the new format for Autumnwatch should be good, especially as it lasts 8 weeks.

      Have to say that I prefer Chris Packham to Bill Oddie - at least Kate can get a word in edgeways and is not interrupted so often!

     Also Chris' knowledge is mind blowing.  As usual the content is in understandable language and continues to be informative.

    To those of you bemoaning the lateness of the Friday broadcast, or the earliness of the Saturday repeat - maybe you could remember to video/DVD it or use the BBC iPlayer to watch the show when it suits you all best.  Just a suggestion!!

    Sad about Titus, but the rut is a brutish time of the year for all the deer and fatalities are bound to happen, and often do, but we never get to hear about them as webcams are not out on all the hills!!!!!
