Hi all
Only found your great forum today when I was following a link to the young osprey found dead in France. I have been monitoring an osprey nest near to my home for the past 4 years & was fortunate enough to be granted a Schedule 1 licence for photography this year. This mainly came about when I encountered a very suspicious individual below the nest in late March before the ospreys had returned. Unfortunately they were clearly up to no good & so my vigil began. It is a very difficult nest to photograph for a variety of reasons but if I am allowed to post here, there is a short link to the seasons happenings - http://www.valgallphotography.com/ospreyupdate.htm
I am passionate about all wildlife particularly birds and so plaesed to have found this site
Thanks
Valmc
One Life - Live It!!
Welcome Valmc, I've done the link and must say your site is very good. I am also from Perthshire. Keep up the good work. Look forward to your input.
For viewing or photography right place right time is everything. I'd rather be in the right place with poor kit than have the best kit and be in the wrong place.
Hi again Val
Glad you found my email and have joined us. I am sure you will enjoy it. Are the young from "your" nest able to be tracked in the same way we can track the Loch Garten ones here?

The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Hi Val
Welcome to the RSPB Forum.
I am so sorry to hear about the Osprey in France.- so sad.
Anyway you have found us and that is the main thing
Enjoy yourself here.

Hi Valmc
Thanks for your story. If you're especially interested in Ospreys, we have a Group within the Forum dedicated to the Loch Garten ospreys, though there's quite a bit of general Osprey chat. To get there, click on the Groups button in the RH corner of the heading.
Also this is the Home Page for the project tracking the migrations of two of this year's brood from Loch Garten:

Welcome Valmc , I loved your story of the Ospreys and I know Perthshire quite well as I was born and brought up in Dundee. However I have now moved to the land of the Sassenachs and my nearest point of viewing ospreys is Rutland Water about 20 miles from here. There is a wide range of knowledge of ospreys on these forums and it is all very friendly. Hope you will enjoy joining in with the banter.
Hi Valmc.
Welcome to the forum. You'll love this site as its a really friendly community. Very sorry to hear about the osprey in France, terrible news.
